Alon Studio is where the tides have taken us. Here is the next wave of making our dreams come true.
We are Erielle and Marzia, the duo behind Alon. Our first meeting was during a high school dance class and have been best friends since. Over the years, we constantly cheered each other on regardless of where our distinct career paths have taken us. Erielle is a full-time flight attendant and Marzia works in the communications and non-profit space. However, we always talk about our wildest dreams and bond over our love for creative work, interior design, and beautiful visual narratives. Erielle started Tahanan Co. during the pandemic as she realized the importance of making your home a thoughtful and comfortable space. Marzia has always adored photography and storytelling. One day, we were candidly sharing how much we would love to have space to decorate, source unique items for, and be representative of our personalities. At that moment, we were unknowingly envisioning what Alon Studio could be.
So when the opportunity arose, we took each other’s hand and leaped into an intimidating yet exciting new venture.
The Story Behind the Name
Alon is the Tagalog word for wave. As two Filipina entrepreneurs, we knew that this new undertaking needed to honour our heritage and culture. When we think of the ocean, we are captivated by its endless beauty and possibility. However, our favourite part is the waves that come crashing in with so much power and movement. During one faithful trip to the beach, these strong flows of water became the inspiration for our brand.
When we think of being Filipino in this modern world, it is comparable to the ebb and flow of the ocean. There are significant challenges but also powerful moments of pride and joy. But one thing is for sure, these fluctuations lead to creativity, regrowth, and evolution. The studio is a space and platform for ever-evolving artistry. Pieces and people will come and go, change and emerge.
What’s next?
We are grateful for the community that has supported us to reach this point but we are equally thrilled for the new friends that we have been meeting along the way. We hope that you continue to watch this space to shop our various finds, utilize the studio, and come together in various gatherings in the coming months. There is so much more coming and we can’t wait to continue sharing it with you.
